Suggester says, "A newsworthy photograph that was taken very seriously regarding the circumstances. With lots of details, good overall quality, its atmospheric appearance, and subject which isn't easy to be found, this image will fit on the cover of your magazine or newspaper."

U-2511 stern

Description

A shot of the stern of the WWII German submarine (u-boat) U-2511, which now lies in 68m (225ft) or so of water off the northern coast of Ireland (Donegal/Malin Head).

This was one of only a few shots I managed on this dive, given the fact that we only had 15mins or so of bottom time before starting our ascent, which took a further 55-60mins. Total dive time came out at about 90mins.

For any divers out there who care, this was done on an Inspiration Closed Circuit Rebreather, 16/45 trimix, a tripod, and a nappy :)

[Please view in 'full view' - I think it looks better that way]

UPDATE - some photos of the same wreck taken a year ago, to show the difference a tripod and correctly setting the camera up make ...

Stern shot
Conning tower shot
